Our Story
Pulling the Ripcord
Paul & Nancy Giel and Joe & Shirley Hutton were pillars in the community, both in their highly public careers and in their passion for giving back. Their sons, Paul Giel, Jr. and Chip Hutton, grew up together seeing first-hand how it was more important to give than receive through the actions of their parents.
They would go on to pursue professional careers and raising families while continuing the tradition of generosity.
Paul would spend nearly thirty years as a marketing agency owner. In the last ten years, he transitioned to leadership roles with large non-profits in the Twin Cities. He found a passion for helping organizations with great causes grow to impact others.
Over the past four decades, Chip worked as an executive for others and then started businesses of his own. He always found the freedom afforded him through business ownership allowed him more time to dedicate to helping others.
Through those decades, Paul and Chip have been touched by both family and friends in recovery and seeing first-hand the crippling costs related to extended stays for pediatric diseases. They wanted to continue their families’ tradition of giving back by addressing the extra costs to patients and their families in recovery and extended hospital stays. Their solution was to co-found The Parachute Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to easing the stress related to both areas by funding programs to support those in need.
